- What is happening? We have a completely new magic keyboard for the iPad Pro at home. Let’s go ahead, get it unboxed, and see what it gets. Now, it was announced with the new iPad Pro but it was released a little later, and to be honest, it was one of the most exciting things about the iPad Pro, especially how it got the floating mechanism, really I am excited to check it out.
- And we are currently presented with the magic keyboard. Its weight is slightly less. This is the kind of thing that I see many people doing. Now I think this is because a lot of people are used to SmartPoloKeboard and, you know, probably expect it to have the same kind of weight but it is clearly offering a lot more. And you can see that we are going to see the Apple logo in the middle here, now we have got the cutout for the square camera model. Nothing else inside the box other than some paperwork. And on the other hand, it’s absolutely plain, now if we open this kind of clip then there is space. Right, and then we can move this top section back and forth. So we got the iPad Pro here. We can put it over the top. And Boom, Magnet, loved it. They seem to be some very strong magnets because it feels very strong, it is spoken on the right and then we can adjust the angle of the iPad Pro-Magic Keyboard. And best of all, it is floating. It looks really good. Ok, now that it’s connected you can start using it directly, they are nothing you need to configure it or anything like that. It is straight and upward and the trackpad works perfectly. This is obviously not a very large trackpad as we have found on some of the MacBooks but, yes, it is very responsive and it also supports multi-touch so you can pinch to zoom, Swipe with three fingers to go to the house et cetera. Looking at the keyboard now, this is a full-size keyboard, so you’re not really compromising on the size of the keyboard and best of all it’s using the scissor mechanism we’ve seen on recent MacBooks and it’s Give it around a millimeter of travel, yeah, well, that’s good. Honestly, it makes such a big difference. I’m someone who types a lot on my iPad Pro and generally, I use a SmartPhilio keyboard, which is all well and good, but not having that trackpad means that I have to Had to reach the screen when I wanted to move the cursor to select a piece of text around or around it. This makes things so easy. Now, one thing that I’m sure a lot of people are wondering is how is it if you’re actually using it on your lap? Generally speaking, this is actually very fine.
- I think Apple has weighed it quite well, so when you do it on your lap, it balances very well, I haven’t really experienced anything where it’s just like this Let’s be topless or anything like that. And it’s also keyboard backlit, so if you’re using it in dark conditions, you’ll still be able to see all of your keys, although I’d love to have brightness control on the keyboard because you really have to go through the settings to change it. Deep in which is not really very convenient. And it also has an integrated USB-C port for pass-through charging, so what you can do is connect your charger to the keyboard instead of the iPad Pro. It’s going to charge the iPad Pro wirelessly through the cover and it’s going to free up the USB-C port on the iPad Pro so you can plug in access-in accessories and things like that. Now, generally speaking, I’m not someone who has my iPad Pro on a charge if I’m using it anyway. Battery life is really great and it will last me through the day, but it’s good to like that option as it now makes it a laptop form factor, you can charge that without using that port.
- Now one more thing to note is that this magic keyboard also works with the third-generation iPad Pro so this is the one that was released in 2018. So just quickly test the new Magic Keyboard with iPad Pro 2018, the third generation. Then, snaps into place really easily. Connects straight away, you don’t have to do anything and you have a similar experience here. The only thing is that in the rear you will see that the camera cutout has a bit more space because we only have that iPad Pro third-generation single camera. Now in terms of weight, I’m not sure about the exact weight of the iPad Pro. I’m just bringing the smartphone keyboard here with the old iPad, to see the weight. It definitely weighs more.
It is also a bit thicker than what I would say and it is wider because we have this hinge part that supports iPadPro when it is floating and it has got USB-C connectivity here as well. Now, it is retailing for around £ 350 or $ 350. It is for 12.9 inches. The 11-inch version is around £ 300 or $ 300, so it’s definitely not cheap, but it’s the best keyboard package you can get right now for the iPad Pro and if the iPad Pro is your primary production device it will There may be something you want to achieve.
Now if the Magic Keyboard is currently out of your budget, remember that the iPad Pro has universal support for keyboards and mice, so if you have a wireless keyboard and a wireless mouse, you’re still going to be able to use the keyboard and enable There are mouse experiences on the iPad Pro but the MagicKeboard type gives you an almost complete laptop replacement experience. And that’s MagicKeyboard for iPad Pro.
I think it’s really great. I like this floating design very much. The keyboard feels great as is the trackpad. I think this is really going to change the way I use my iPad Pro. What do you guys think of Magic Keyboard? Is this something you’re picking up? Is there anything else you would like me to cover with this? Definitely let me know in the comments below.
